A new generation of cover for breeders

Only with Furro Breeders. The cover includes birth complications and an unplanned caesarean section performed on medical grounds. It also includes mastitis and uterine infection for 8 weeks after the birth, and lactation disorders when the vet considers medication necessary. A uterine infection that began before the birth is covered if it is linked to the mating or the pregnancy.

Yes, when the caesarean section is unplanned and performed on medical grounds, for example an emergency C-section when the birth does not progress. A caesarean section planned in advance is not covered. Breeders Lite cover does not share any of the dam's costs.

The vet's examination and treatment costs for illnesses, injuries and accidents that begin during the cover, when the care is given before the handover. Congenital diseases and structural defects are not part of litter cover. They are assessed under the hidden defect conditions instead.

A hidden defect is a congenital or structural defect that the puppy already had before the handover, but that is found only after the handover. All of these conditions must be met: 1. A vet has done a puppy check at 5–16 weeks of age, and the certificate records no defect, no symptoms that point to one and no suspicion of one. 2. The defect had no symptoms, was not known and was not otherwise noticed before the handover. 3. The defect is found before the puppy turns 2. 4. The puppy's microchip number was entered in Oma Furro and linked to the Breeders cover before the handover.

Examination, treatment and euthanasia costs, and the puppy's value in certain situations. The puppy's value can be shared if the puppy has to be put down because of a poor treatment prognosis, or if the costs of the recommended further treatment would exceed the puppy's sale price. All of a puppy's hidden defect costs and the puppy's value count towards the same maximum amount per puppy: the puppy's sale price, but no more than €3,000.

The dam's cover is valid for 8 weeks, that is, 56 days from the puppies' birth. If the pregnancy ends in a miscarriage or all the puppies are stillborn, the dam's cover is valid for 56 days from the end of the pregnancy. Litter cover is valid until each puppy's handover, but no later than 16 weeks of age. A hidden defect must be found before the puppy turns 2.

Up to €3,000 for the dam, up to €2,000 for the litter and, for hidden defects, up to the puppy's sale price, but no more than €3,000 per puppy. Each part has its own maximum amount, and a reimbursement paid from one part does not reduce the maximum amounts of the other parts.

€50 per clinic visit, plus 25% of the remaining costs. For the dam, the fixed €50 is charged once per dam and visit, for the litter once per litter and visit, and for hidden defects once per puppy and visit. Prescription medicines and dressing and recovery supplies have only the 25% deductible, and no deductible applies to the puppy's value.

No. For the litter's treatment costs, the fixed €50 deductible is charged once per clinic visit, even if several puppies are treated. The deductible also includes 25% of the remaining costs.

No. Vaccinations, deworming, other preventive care and routine health checks are not covered. The puppy check is still important, because a puppy check with no remarks is a condition of hidden defect cover.

In general, the cover does not include routine monitoring of the pregnancy, the birth and the puppies, vaccinations and other preventive care, food and non-prescription products, rehabilitation, travel and transport costs, cremation and post-mortem examination, or certificate, advice and administrative fees. For the dam, the cover does not include a caesarean section planned in advance. For the litter, it does not include illnesses and injuries that began before the cover was activated or after it ended, treatment given after the handover, or congenital diseases and structural defects. Hidden defect cover does not include defects that do not seriously affect the puppy's health, defects recorded on the puppy check certificate or noticed before the handover, hip and elbow joint diseases, patellar luxation, osteochondrosis, dental diseases, bite defects, congenitally missing teeth, or BOAS, Chiari-like malformation and syringomyelia.

Go first to one of Furro's partner clinics, which you can find at furro.com/en/clinic-search. At a direct-settlement clinic, the clinic sends the treatment details to Furro, and you pay only your own share at the visit. At another clinic, you pay for the care first and apply for reimbursement afterwards in Oma Furro. In an urgent situation, for example a difficult birth, go without delay to the nearest clinic that can give care.

You make the reimbursement application in Oma Furro within three months of the visit. Attach the itemised invoice, the patient record and the microchip number: before the handover the dam's number, for hidden defects the puppy's own number. If the care was given somewhere other than a partner clinic, also attach an explanation of the choice of clinic. Furro's platform gives a reimbursement recommendation based on the Community Rules, and the case is shown to the community anonymised for 72 hours before the decision.

Add the new owner's email address in the Handover section of Oma Furro, and they receive a sign-up link. When the new owner takes out Furro Basic or Furro Plus cover for the puppy and adds the puppy to Furro on handover day at the latest, the cover is valid at once with no waiting periods. This requires that the puppy has no illness, injury or defect that began before the cover started.

The breeder who holds the Breeders cover. The puppy's new owner does not need to be a Furro member. Ask the owner for the itemised invoice and the patient record, and if needed attach the sales contract or a payment receipt that shows the sale price. The reimbursement is paid to the breeder.

Tell Furro as soon as it is confirmed. The fees are refunded in full only if all of these conditions are met: 1. No reimbursement application has been made under the cover. 2. No cost has been approved for sharing or paid under the cover. 3. In the refund request, you confirm in writing that you know of no event, symptom, illness or injury that occurred or began during the cover and that could later be the basis of a reimbursement application. 4. You provide the report that Furro asks for, for example a vet's statement or the result of an ultrasound scan, within the given time. The refund ends the cover for good, and no reimbursement can be applied for under it after that.
